Radenka Kuzmanić Šamija, MD graduated from the Split Faculty of Medicine, University of Zagreb in 1987.
She completed her specialization in pediatrics at the Department of Pediatric Neurology at KBC Split and the Clinic for Children’s Diseases in Zagreb. After completing the education and passing the co-specialist exam in pediatric neurology by decision of the Ministry of Health, in 2009 he obtained the title of sub-specialist in pediatric neurology.
She gained clinical experience working as a pediatrician specialist, then as a subspecialist in pediatric neurology at the Clinic for Children’s Diseases, KBC Split, and in the Intensive Care Unit of KBC Split.
The narrow field of interest in pediatric neurology is focused on the field of pediatric neurology of developmental age, perinatal damage to newborns and infants due to neuromuscular diseases, diseases of the spine and peripheral nervous system. She deals with ultrasound diagnostics of the brain and electromyoneurography.
In addition to pediatric neurology, she also does primary pediatrics – caring for acutely ill children and systematic examinations and vaccinations.
She obtained the title of Doctor of Medical Sciences at the Faculty of Medicine in Rijeka in 2011 after defending her dissertation “Polymorphism of the endothelial nitric oxide synthase gene and perinatal hypoxic-ischemic brain damage”.
She was elected to the titular scientific-teaching title of assistant professor at the Faculty of Medicine in Split in 2012. In the titular title of associate professor. she was elected in 2021 at the Faculty of Health Studies of the University of Rijeka.
She participates in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Split and Rijeka, and the University Department of Health Studies at the University of Split and Rijeka.
She completed a large number of postgraduate courses and education: Postgraduate study “Mother and child”, Postgraduate study in “Biomedicine”. Individual training course “Intracranial ultrasonography of infants”, Postgraduate course of individual training “Electromioneurography”; Postgraduate course “Pediatric electroencephalography”, Clinical Hospital Center Split, Faculty of Medicine, University of Split and Pediatric Clinic Ljubljana; European Pediatric Neurology Society Training courses – “Seizures and Movement Disorders” and “Developmental Disorders”. She has attended professional training abroad several times (Hospital Sant Joan de Déu Barcelona), especially in the field of pediatric neurology and electromyoneurography and brain ultrasound.
She was the head of the Clinical Department of Neurology and Endocrinology, Clinic for Children’s Diseases, KBC Split.
She was a leader and/or lecturer at several domestic courses for continuous medical training for doctors and symposia. She is the co-author of several books and teaching texts. So far, she has published a large number of scientific papers in internationally indexed publications, as well as numerous summaries of papers from various congresses and symposia (domestic, international, European and world).
She was a researcher on two scientific projects.
He is the winner of the “Diagnosis of the Year” award, and the winner of the award of the Croatian Pediatric Society in 2012 for hers exceptional contribution to the development of medical science in the field of pediatrics.
dr. Radenka Kuzmanić Šamija is a member of a dozen domestic and foreign scientific and professional organizations (Croatian Medical Association, Croatian Pediatric Society, Croatian Society for Child Neurology, Croatian Academy for Developmental Rehabilitation, Association for the Fight against Epilepsy, Croatian Society for Human Genetics, Croatian Brain Research Institute, European Pediatric Neurologic Society, International Child Neurology Association).
